Ham radio is a developing program intended to provide a working partnership and comfortable relationship between the ACS and Fire services. By managing communications between the different agencies, and minimizing conflicts and confusion, the SKFR Amateur Radio Operators can complement and extend services during a local disaster.

Words from Mike Foster

"My experience in the fire service includes over 40 years as a firefighter, Fire Chief, and training officer. I have actively participated in suppressing shipboard fires, structure fires, brush fires, vehicle fires, etc.
I also have a lifetime limited teaching credential for Fire Science.

I have had my ham radio operator's license for approximatley 9 years. I have been a participant involved with the Emergency Management for about 5 years.

I am active in the development of a group of ham operators for SKFR. The objective of this group is to provide support in the event of an emergency situation."
